Blu-ray Disc

Blu-ray Disc (also known as Blu-ray or BD), is an optical disc storage medium designed to replace the standard DVD format. Blu-ray Disk, the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson).

The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. The disc has the same physical dimensions as standard DVDs and CDs

Although the Blu-ray Disc specification has been finalized, engineers continue to work on advancing the technology. Recently, Pioneer Corporation unveiled a 400 GB Blu-ray Disc that will be compatible with current players after a firmware update. Its planned launch is in the 2009–10 time frames. Ongoing development is under way to create a 1 TB (1 TB = 1000 GB) Blu-ray Disc

The name Blu-ray Disc derives from the blue-violet laser used to read the disc. While a standard DVD uses a 650 nanometer red laser, Blu-ray uses a shorter wavelength, a 405 nm blue-violet laser, and allows for almost six times more data storage than a DVD. Though not compulsory, the Blu-ray Disc Association recommends that Blu-ray Disc drives be capable of reading standard DVDs and CDs, for backward compatibility.

HD-DVD

HD DVD (High-Definition DVD) is a high-density optical disc format for storing data and high- definition video. Supported mainly by Toshiba.

HD DVD-R and HD DVD-RW have a single-layer capacity of 15 GB, and a dual-layer capacity of 30 GB (as per layer increases the capacity get increased). the data layer of an HD DVD is 0.6 mm below the surface to physically protect the data layer from damage. Backward compatibility is available with all HD DVD players, allowing users to have a single player to play all types of HD DVD, DVD and CD. As for your HD DVD player, you can still enjoy your current library of HD DVD and standard DVD movies and the HD DVD player will up convert the standard DVDs so you can enjoy them in near HD quality. And you can play your CDs too.

HD DVD was envisaged to be the successor to the standard DVD format. However, recently after a protracted high definition optical disk format war with rival Blu-ray, Toshiba abandoned the format, announcing it would no longer develop or manufacture HD DVD players or drives, making rival Blu-ray Disc the dominant format for high definition video discs.

Toshiba has decided to discontinue sales and marketing of HD DVD players but Toshiba said that it would continue to provide full product support and after-sales service to customers of Toshiba HD DVD products. The company had sold more than 1 million players and recorders worldwide

Netbook Buyer’s Guide

When it comes time to buy a Netbook, there are lots of thing you have to consider, hope this article will help you find the model for you and makes the investment worthwhile. “Consumers no longer have to pay a big money for smallness and thinness”. First off all know the difference between a Netbook and normal laptop. Netbooks themselves are different from other computers because they are quite small, they are about half the size of other traditional laptops. People like Netbooks because they are easy to carry and travel with: This is especially important for those who need computer access while on business and for students.

  1. Think about the size of the screen. Experts say that screens nine inches and over will result in a normal viewing experience: anything smaller may result in more scrolling to see an entire website or image. However, if you value a small size and don’t mind that you can’t see a whole web page, then you can invest in a screen that is smaller than nine inches. So, if you want a Netbook that is sure to be easy to use and has more disk space, then you should consider high end models that have screens above nine inches in size.
  2. Netbook Keyboards are small in size, there are some keyboards that are near traditional sized, If you ar planning to do lot of word processing on your Netbook, I recommend you have to experience the keyboards before you decide on a model for you. It may take you time to adjust to the new size of the keyboard. However, you do want to make sure that using the keyboard isn’t painful or near impossible.
  3. Think about the Netbook’s battery. If you plan on traveling a lot, you will need a Netbook with long battery life. The more cells a battery has, the longer it will last. For example, a 3 cell battery may last for four hours whereas a 6-cell battery will last double this
  4. Some people talk about Netbook as a media player. Remember, these little kids do not have optical drives (CD, DVD). If you want to play movies on it, you’re either looking at movie files on your hard drive, an external optical drive, or maybe you have to go online.
  5. All Netbooks on the market today support Wi-Fi wireless networking and Some also include Ethernet and/or modem ports, for broadband or dial-up Internet access.

Note:-

  • If you’re looking for a simple computer that does basic tasks, and if You work on the go and want to stay mobile, get the Netbook.
  • If you want potable, powerful computer that will run all the same applications as your desktop do and all you want to do is play games, then buy a big laptop

Netbook "nothing more than smaller, cheaper notebooks (laptop)"

The biggest trend now in laptop computing is netbook and low-cost machines. Netbooks are a rapidly growing category of small, light weighted and inexpensive devices designed purposely for Internet useage. A netbook will run any software that its operating system supports. Since the hardware architecture is similar to personal computers (PC).Generally Netbooks have no optical disk drive, application software is typically transferred over a network or read from a USB device.

The primary design for netbooks was for web browsing and e-mailing, which meant it relied heavily on the Internet. It possess a number of cool features, the main one being Wi-Fi access to the Internet. You’ll find standard features such as one or more USB ports and headphone and microphone outlets, as well as things such as a built in camera. Netbook have comparatively longer battery life than notebooks and typically it has up to 180 GB of hard disk space and 5-13 inch screen. Most netbooks use the Intel Atom processor (usually the N270 at 1.6GHz, N280 at 1.66Ghz)

Netbooks omitted some key features to reduce both the size and cost. You can’t find a optical disk drive (CD, DVD drive) in a Netbook , Netbook featured smaller screens and keyboards, and offered reduced specification and computing power. Over the path of their development, Netbooks have ranged in size from below 5" to over 13", and from 1 kg in weight so it is easily portable and can be easily moved from one place to another place. Often Netbooks are considerably less expensive than other laptops. Some say Netbook is "nothing more than smaller, cheaper notebooks (laptop)"

The traditional laptop faces some competition in the mobile computing market. It can be confusing for consumers; there are lots of new terms and categories to take into consideration when shopping for a mobile computer. There are laptops, notebooks, netbooks and ultra-mobile PCs. More and more people these days are choosing portability when it comes to their gadgets. With this, they would choose the small ones that will virtually fit anywhere. Now laptops are even seen as something bulky now to have around with. The netbooks are much smaller than the average laptops. It has a size which is half of the laptop.

Windows 7 Launch

Microsoft has taken a strong step forward with Windows 7, Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft Windows, an operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, Windows 7 unquestionably works better then both Windows XP and Vista in several key areas, including boot and shut down time. Windows 7 is intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being fully compatible with applications and hardware with which Windows Vista is already compatible.

Windows 7 was released on October 22nd 2009. You can now Buy Windows 7 directly from online retailers like Amazon. The launch event for Windows 7 has just finished in New York and it’s been on a much smaller scale than previous launches. This time there was no huge stage and no big screen presentations, no rock band and no multiple speakers. Not even the customary long list of thanking the development team.

Notable app omissions
A number of capabilities and certain programs that were a part of Windows Vista are no longer present or have changed, resulting in the removal of certain functionality. Some notable Windows Vista features and components have been replaced or removed in Windows 7, including the classic Start Menu user interface, Windows Ultimate Extras, InkBall, and Windows Calendar. Three applications bundled with Windows Vista — Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Mail — are not included with Windows 7, but are instead available for free in a separate package called Windows Live Essentials.

Keyloger + Hacking

I’m writing this article not to help in getting others passwords or personal information, with the help of this article please don’t try to get others personal information instead you can protect yourself from hackers who use keyloger to get your information. In my experience I have noticed that many students use these keyloger in their college to get friend’s password. So be aware of this, your friends may hack your e-mail, facebook, ect using the keyloger. if you have not heard about keyloger then first of all you have to know what is keyloger.

What is keyloger?

A keylogger is an excellent option for hackers, and probably the easiest. keyloger is a hardware device or a small program which records the every keystroke a user types on a computer’s keyboard including emails, documents, login names, passwords etc.

Software keyloger

Software Keylogers are the software program which records every keystrokes on the keyboard. The keylogger records everything the user types in, the data will be stored on the victim’s computer. These programs store data in a file which is usually located in system folder. But as if the hacker has physical access then he can read everything what is typed in the victim’s computer. Software Keyloggers may be greater than before with new features

New features included in keyloger software

  • Clipboard logging; Anything that has been copied to the clipboard can be captured by the program.
  • Screen logging; Screenshots are taken in order to capture graphics-based information. Applications with screen logging abilities may take screenshots of the whole screen, just one application or even just around the mouse cursor. They may take these screenshots periodically or in response to user behaviours (for example, when a user has clicked the mouse).
  • Programmatically capturing the text in a control; The Microsoft windows API allows programs to request the text 'value' in some controls. This means that some passwords may be captured, even if they are hidden behind password masks (usually asterisks)

Hardware keyloger

A Hardware keylogger is a small size hardware circuit that is attached somewhere in between the computer keyboard and the computer. More sneaky implementations can be installed or built into standard keyboards, so that no device is visible on the external cable. As the user types, the keyloger collects each keystroke and saves it as text in its own internal tiny memory. At a later point in time, the person who installed the keylogger can access the information the device has gathered.

A hardware keylogger has an advantage over a software keyloger, hardware keyloger can’t be detected by any software. However if the hardware keyloger is visible to outside its physical presence may be detected by the user. Hardware keyloger can also grab passwords that are given to access a certain local user on the operating system used. Some of these keyloger have the ability to be controlled and monitored remotely through wireless connection.

Usage of keyloger

Most of the people use keylogers for illegal activities like hacking, but keylogers can also be used for legal and useful things, how a keyloger can be useful to you? Let’s take an example to realize the worth of keyloger, “You are typing kilobytes of your thoughts into an on-line form to post on a message board and when you press "Submit", it says "DNS Error... Check your Internet connection" Oops!

At this situation you will have to type the information again, to face these problems You can have a keyloger installed on your computer, this tinny program logs all your keystrokes, whether you use an e-mail client, a text editor, a web browser or any other Windows application. You will find everything you ever typed in. addition to keystrokes, some keyloger also logs some application specific information as well.

For example, it logs all the URLs you visit with your Web browser. It also logs the captions (titles) of all windows that you open. This allows you to easily find texts that you typed in specific applications or on specific Web pages. It is extremely useful when you forgot your login info or a registration key for a program or a Web site. All your login and registration info is safely logged.

“Refog” keyloger is a good keyloging software, even I enjoy using this free keyloger software, it’s been very helpful for me. Here is the link to download a useful and free keyloger http://www.refog.com/download.html

Hacking is possible?

If you read something on this topic, and you hear that you have to email some address and in any way have to give up your password in the process, do NOT believe this. This is a cheat used to trick innocent people into handing over their passwords. So don't fall for this. Well that concludes this section, now let’s get to what you want to know. E-mail hacking is possible? Many readers are interested in this topic “PASSWORD HACKING

First of all it is very difficult to break into any mail server like Yahoo, Google, MSN etc. And even if someone breaks into their servers, they can’t get the password in a readable format because these big networks like Google, Yahoo MSN ect. Keeps there data in encrypted format so it is not a simple thing to decode there data and get the password.

Still there can be talented hackers who can do all these works and hack into these big networks like Yahoo, Google, Msn, etc. but don’t worry these hackers not going to put a big effort on hacking your accounts. But be aware of your girl friend/boy friend because I have seen in many blogs that people asking help to get their boyfriends/girlfriends password, they are trying to see you have connection with any other girl/boy. Sometimes even your friends can try to hack your e-mail, Facebook, etc. accounts just for fun. So these kinds of people can’t hack into your online accounts if you be well aware of what most of these people do. So what these people can do to get your password?

The only way these people trying to do is cheat you using fake login pages, fake e-mails, they claims to arrive from your e-mail provider (Ex. A message claims to arrive from Google and asks your google password in any way). But remember none of these networks will ask your password. If you do get any e-mail asking your password never provide them your password. Another way people use to hack is fake log in page be aware of these fake login page too. At last I would like to remind you of keylogers it also been used to get others personal information like password. So read our article about the keylogers and be aware of that too.
